    What causes sales resistance?

    It's not automatically produced by the customer – it's you, the salesperson, who creates it. You create resistance by enticing, cajoling, persuading, and convincing. You create sales resistance by doing whatever manipulation it takes to get the prospect to buy.

    Most people perceive persuasion as pressure, and resistance is the natural reaction whenever pressure is applied. Remove the pressure, and suddenly you and the customer are breathing easier.

    Resistance is eliminated when seller and buyer both want the same thing – to do business together – which is why the best prospect is the one who already wants what you have to sell.
